Who We Are

Trades Builder is a community-based organization in Hampton Roads, Virginia, committed to fostering the growth and development of our youth and young adults. Our primary mission is to offer immediate support by removing economic obstacles often hindering entry into skilled trade programs. By providing crucial financial assistance, we empower individuals to pursue opportunities in the skilled trades, ultimately contributing to the expansion and fortification of the skilled trade workforce in our region. Our dedicated efforts aim to bridge the gap between aspiring individuals and the fulfilling careers available in the skilled trades, creating a brighter future for our community and the workforce.

Who We Serve

Trades Builder provides crucial financial assistance to youth and young adults who face financial barriers to entering skilled trade programs. This support enables individuals to pursue opportunities in the skilled trades, contributing to the expansion and fortification of the skilled trade workforce in our region.

How We Do It

Trades Builder secures and distributes funds via our “Tour of Trucks & Trades,” a kid-friendly event that allows the community to engage with companies and agencies in the skilled trades sector. Additionally, we collaborate with vocational schools, employers, manufacturers, and public agencies to advocate for these careers as crucial contributors to our world. We serve as a cornerstone, emphasizing that acquiring trade skills is essential for individuals and everyone involved in building our world.

The Tour of Trucks & Trades event’s net proceeds support Trades Builder, its workforce development, community programs, and skilled trade scholarships. Trades Builder’s 2024 goal is to sponsor 50 New Horizon high school students entering the skilled trade industry.
